Topanga
Custom cabinetry in Topanga
Canyon houses
Topanga houses tend to have character: owner-built additions, timber and stone, and walls and floors that move. Cabinetry here is fitted, not just installed. We leave scribe on the panels and fillers, measure carefully for out-of-plumb walls, and fit everything on site so the gaps a catalog box would leave are closed.
The canyon often calls for a warmer palette, and we are glad to work in walnut, oiled finishes and solid wood alongside the rift oak and painted work we build for the coast.
Access and scheduling
Narrow roads and steep driveways are normal here, so we plan delivery with you: the size of the truck, where it can stop, and how far the cabinetry has to be carried. Assemblies are sized to fit the route into the house. Shop drawings typically take 1–2 weeks after the site measure, and fabrication typically takes 6–10 weeks from drawing approval.
FAQ
Common questions
- Can you fit cabinetry to walls that are out of square?
- Yes. That is what scribing is for. We measure on site, build with scribe allowances, and fit panels and fillers to the actual walls during install.
- Can you deliver to houses with difficult access?
- Usually, yes. We look at the road and driveway before delivery, size assemblies to fit the route, and plan the truck and carry with you in advance.
- Do you work with my architect, designer or builder?
- Yes. We work from your architect's or designer's drawings, turn them into dimensioned shop drawings and send those back for review before anything is cut. We coordinate blocking, plumbing, electrical and appliance specs with your builder. We also work directly with homeowners when there is no designer on the job.
- How long does it take?
- Shop drawings typically take 1–2 weeks after the site measure, and fabrication typically takes 6–10 weeks from drawing approval. Installation is usually days, not weeks.
