Custom cabinetry in Pacific Palisades

The Pacifica Mill builds custom kitchens, vanities, closets and built-ins for Pacific Palisades homes, including houses being rebuilt after the fire. We price from your architect's plans, build in our Malibu shop down Pacific Coast Highway, and install with our own crew.

Planning cabinetry for a Palisades house

A large share of Pacific Palisades is being rebuilt from the foundation up. That changes how cabinetry should be planned. When the house is still on paper, the cabinetry can be drawn with it: appliance sizes fixed, plumbing walls located, blocking shown on the framing plans and lighting run to where the shelves and toe kicks actually are. Decisions made at that stage cost nothing to change; the same decisions made after drywall cost time and money.

We work from the architect's set, turn it into shop drawings with elevations and sections, and send those back for review. Once you approve them, fabrication is scheduled against the builder's calendar so cabinets arrive when the house is ready for them, not months early and not in the way.

Built down the coast, installed by the same people

Our shop is in Malibu, so Palisades jobs are measured and installed by our own crew rather than handed to a subcontractor. The people who drew the room set the boxes, scribe the panels to the walls and adjust every door and drawer before we walk the finished room with you.

We build frameless and face-frame cabinetry in rift and plain-sawn white oak, walnut and maple, with Blum soft-close hardware as standard. Shop drawings typically take 1–2 weeks after the site measure, and fabrication typically takes 6–10 weeks from drawing approval.

Houses in the Palisades

Palisades houses run from mid-century ranch houses and Spanish revivals in the flats to modern houses on the bluffs and in the Highlands. We draw to the house: inset face-frame doors and painted finishes where the architecture is traditional, flat rift oak and integrated appliances where it is modern. Coastal air is part of the brief either way, so edges are sealed and sheet goods are chosen to stay flat.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you build cabinetry for Pacific Palisades fire rebuilds?
Yes. We price kitchens, baths, closets and built-ins from your architect's plans and schedule fabrication in our Malibu shop to match your construction timeline. The earlier we see the plans, the more we can help with appliance, plumbing and blocking decisions.
How long does custom cabinetry take?
Shop drawings typically take 1–2 weeks after the site measure, and fabrication typically takes 6–10 weeks from drawing approval. Installation is usually days, not weeks, depending on the size of the job.
Do you work with my architect, designer or builder?
Yes. We work from your architect's or designer's drawings, turn them into dimensioned shop drawings and send those back for review before anything is cut. We coordinate blocking, plumbing, electrical and appliance specs with your builder. We also work directly with homeowners when there is no designer on the job.
Do I need a separate permit for cabinetry?
Cabinetry is normally installed under the building permit for the remodel or rebuild, which your builder or architect manages with the City of Los Angeles. If your scope includes moving plumbing, gas or electrical, those trades are permitted as part of that work. Ask your builder to confirm for your project; we coordinate with whatever the permit requires.
Is your shop open to visit?
The shop is in Malibu and visits are by appointment. Call (310) 707-6683 or use the form and we will set up a time.
